VIATeC

Located in the Conference Centre at the Vancouver Island Technology Park, VIATeC is designed to facilitate the development of Vancouver Island as a global centre of excellence for advanced technology. VIATeC hosts a variety of events such as VIAFest, Island Tech, and a variety of seminars for the benefit if our industry at VITP.
VIATeC, started in 1990, is a not-for-profit, industry-driven venture, which actively promotes and enhances the development of the advanced-technology industry on Vancouver Island.
VIATeC is a diverse organization that focuses on multiple services and events that continue to help grow the technology sector on Vancouver Island. Economic development is at the core of VIATeC’s goals and all programs and services are designed to further that mandate. In 2007, the Technology industry surpassed the Tourism industry with annual revenues yielding close to two billion dollars. It is currently estimated that 800 technology companies operate in the Greater Victoria Area and that the island total is over 1,100 firms. .
Since VIATeC’s creation over 13 years ago, the growth of the technology sector on Vancouver Island has steadily outpaced the growth of other regions. The revenues from this region make up approximately 20% of all the technology firm revenues in BC.
